About me

Mark“Even when you reach the top, you will get run over if just sit there”
– found on a bottle cap

My name is Mark. I am a Web Developer, currently living in Miami, Florida.

I started my technology journey as a kid dealing with ZX Spectrum+. I was fascinated with those little 8 bit gadgets, going through: Spectrum, Amstrad, Atari, later on 16-bit Amiga and finally my first own 386SX PC. Back then I got 14400 modem to connect my PC to other ones and finally to new thing to explore – the internet.

Networking was something that inspired me the most back then. That´s why, I guess, at the beginning I started my professional career as Network Designer. I´ve planned out some networks for a couple companies: copper, fiber and wireless, you name it. Then I went back to programming.

For a few years now I enjoy working with PHP, Smarty Template Engine which I put both together to create my own mini framework. This website is where I can exercise ideas that did not find place use in my professional work.

How I work

My development environment now is an OS X. Dropped Windows long time ago and never looked back. I work on my MackBook pro hooked up to a second large flat panel.

I run Windows XP together on virtual machine just to discover sometimes after I finish the project that I have to implement some work arounds for Microsoft Explorer, so my apps can work on IE as well. Its only my preview browser since half of population is still using it, but everytime I need to open my VM with XP on it I get goosebumps.

I have local Apache and MySQL but worked with other web servers and databases as well. Currently I use Coda as my primary editor and I love google Chrome. Took me some time to get use to their Developer Tool Console, but yea – it is awesome.

I love music, play guitar, enjoy beer, thats about it.
